Welcome to Second Grade at St. Matthias - Room 114

This is a very exciting and important year for our students. We spend a great deal of time studying about the Mass, learning the responses to participate in the Mass, and getting ready for their reception of First Eucharist which will be celebrated in the spring.

The students also take on the responsibility of monthly book reports, dinosaur projects and various oral presentations throughout the year. It is fun to see how they each have their own unique way of doing these assignments.

Second graders learn to keep track of their assignments in an assignment notebook. This is a new experience but a valuable tool for the future.

Second semester the students will be learning to write in cursive and tackling the difficult task of regrouping in addition and subtraction. I am sure, as with everything else, they will arise to the challenge.

This is a loving, fun class and we are having a great year!
