Mrs. Connie MichaudMrs. Michaud’s 6th grade class is located on the second floor of the ’62 building, in Room 205. Sixth graders have many opportunities for learning this year. Mrs. Michaud’s social studies classes can be found delving into the histories of ancient civilizations, or reporting on current events that occur world-wide. English class is exciting, too, as students brainstorm, write, and edit essays and reports on various topics throughout the year. A study of vocabulary and grammar is also an important part of English class. In addition to the regular academics of sixth grade, these students can look forward to some “firsts” this year. Sixth graders are now eligible for participation in our school’s academic fair, which occurs during Catholic Schools Week. Students will spend weeks preparing for this by researching a topic in an academic area of their choice, writing a research paper, and presenting a visual. Forensics is another “first” opportunity for sixth graders. A sense of leadership is instilled in our sixth graders as they prepare to be junior high students. They will work with their STAR Partners (1st graders) on a weekly basis, and will sit with kindergartners in mass each week. Sixth grade students are also responsible for stocking our parish food pantry by collecting food periodically from all of the classes in school. |
