Our School Philosophy is:

St. Matthias School believes in a Catholic Christian community where a living faith is at the center of spiritual and intellectual development. We acknowledge individual uniqueness and strive to provide opportunities for the students to achieve their full potential. Our teaching focuses on each student's spiritual, moral, intellectual, psychological, physical and social development.

We recognize the responsibility of the parents, students and parish community to instill a lifelong commitment to God by mirroring the gospel values through worship and service. 

Mission Statement

St. Matthias School is a Catholic elementary school educating students from kindergarten through grade eight. St. Matthias School has been dedicated to the spiritual, intellectual, social and physical development of children since 1851. The school offers a sequential curriculum that sets high expectations and prepares students to become productive members of a global society. 

Vision Statement

St. Matthias School is a parish-based Catholic school. As such, it is an institution of faith formation and, learning in which each student is respected as a unique child of God and in which his or her potential is promoted, nourished, and protected as a community asset, thus enabling our children to be prepared to actively participate in and contribute to the Church and civil community as they mature. For the accomplishment of this vision for our school, a respectful partnership among staff, parents, and St. Matthias Parish is necessary.

St. Matthias School respects the dignity of the child.  Neither race, sex, nor national origin will prevent a child from being accepted at St. Matthias School.  Children of other religions may be accepted on a seat available basis unless attendance would cause conflict for the child because of their religious philosophy.

School Registration

Application forms and an informational folder can be picked up at the school office. An Open House is held each January during Catholic Schools Week to enable parents to see the school in action. An all-school Academic Fair is also held in Spring to show-case the achievements of our students. All are welcome to attend.
