Mr. Matthew WoodI am a 2003 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where I received my education degree in elementary education through middle school and in mathematics. This is my first true year of teaching after interning for a semester and then subbing for one as well. Already I am able to tell that this will be an exciting year with much learning happening for both the students and myself. Mathematics is going to be an adventure for the seventh and eighth graders this year as the seventh grade plunges into Pre-Algebra while the eighth grade goes off of the deep end in Algebra. From adding and subtracting integers to solving for a variable on one side we will be covering everything to prepare these students for the future. My goal for the end of the year is to have every student prepared well enough to be successful in high school mathematics. Although mathematics is my specialty, as a seventh grade classroom we will be focusing much of the year on the aspects of literature. Learning about short stories, autobiographies, fiction and non-fiction, poems, just to mention a few, we will be looking at the different types of writing that make up our English literature. We will be learning much about the Catholic Religion and the role that we play in it and the role of importance that it plays in our lives. From an academic standpoint, I want all students that step foot in my room to be successful and feel ready their time in high school and beyond. More importantly I want my students to become well rounded human beings that are not only ready inside the classroom but outside of it as well. |
